After surviving the Carroway, Bram Kestrel and Nozomi Kuroda open a paranormal office in downtown Tampa. The publicity brings a television opportunity, a flood of new cases, and Malik St. James to the front desk. One call leads to the Vale family and a lantern tied to St. Aurelia, where fourteen children died in a fire and the dead have learned how to call the grieving home.
The light does not simply imitate lost loved ones. It tempts people to choose the dead over the living, while Sister Agnes wears Bram’s face and pieces of St. Aurelia surface across Tampa. With rival ghost hunter Gideon Voss sabotaging their work and a nervous television crew demanding evidence, Bram and Nozomi must close the doorway without letting public attention turn the haunting into something larger.
