Tampa, summer 1986. A late-night payphone summons Danny Moreno into the unfinished war left by Victor Kane. Raymond Voss, a name buried in Calvin ‘Fearless’ Mercer’s past, has spent decades turning boxers, police officers, businesses, and missing young people into a system called Crown. When a hunted boy arrives with a warning and a black ledger points back to Danny, Calvin, Becca, and Robby, the survivors of 1985 learn that Victor was only one piece of a much larger machine.
The trail runs from a shuttered arcade and Tall Pines to Miami boxing gyms, Bay St. Louis, school halls, and hidden Crown archives. White roses mark the watched, old family secrets fracture loyalties, and a new director uses kidnapped children and fight tapes to turn Danny Moreno into a symbol. To rescue them and break the inheritance of violence, Danny must decide whether courage means landing the final blow—or refusing to become the men he is fighting.
