Lucia returns to New York in September 1926 and finds a Canadian-stamped warning beneath her contracts: WE REMEMBER NAMES. Emilio Mancuso is still alive, the criminal network behind him is rebuilding, and Lucia refuses to abandon either the stage or Bellandi Productions. Mario remains beside her, even as work, danger, and Lucia’s fear of giving fate one more promise repeatedly delay their wedding.
When Lucia’s gifted younger sister Rosa crosses the Atlantic to build a career in costume design, the Bellandi family’s American dream grows larger—and more exposed. Through the final years of the Roaring Twenties, black cars, automatic gunfire, corrupt policemen, and a gathering financial collapse close around the family. Lucia must decide whether a famous name is a weakness criminals can exploit or a legacy strong enough to survive them.
